Update with new bolos

It has been some time since the last update and a lot has happened. I have been to two Boy Scout National Jamborees and two Mountain Man events.  I have also been involved with two Kodiak Challenges.

For the jamborees I made bolos for the troop to wear during the tour and camp.  For the first in 2010 they all had the same bolo, Trader Joe.  For the 2013 jamboree each patrol selected their own bolo for their patrol, as well as the youth leadership or Green Bar.

After the 2010 Jamboree, I made bolos to wear during the 2013 Jamboree during our tour before the camp.

Uncle Sam

For the mountain man events I made a variety of bolos to give to scouts that would commit to live the scout oath and law to make a difference in their family, church, school, neighborhood and country.

For the first Kodiak Challenge the venture scouts all received a Kodiak bear bolo with the venture symbol.  For the second challenge they received a bolo of their team critter.

Team bolos for Raven, Lion, Moose, Jaguar, Wolverine & Falcon teams.

I have also made other bolos just for fun.  These are for me to wear to scout functions and cannot be sold due to copyright restrictions.  But they are really fun to do and wear.

Since my first post I have refined some of the critter designs and added the two retired critters. After the addition of the wolf and crow critter bolos, I received a request for a cub scout wolf bolo for a cub scout that was a new wolf cub. As a result I created the wolf cub and bear cub bolos. As an assistant scoutmaster for the 2010 National Jamboree, I wanted to create a unique bolo tie for the members of troop 2024 for the jamboree. The result is the Trader Joe bolo. I have also designed a stripling warrior bolo for the LDS scout.

Welcome to Boyd's Bolos Blog

After attending wood badge in July of this year, I wanted to create a gift for the members of my beaver patrol. After much consideration and after just whittling a couple of bolo ties at our family reunion, I decided to make beaver critter bolo ties for each of my patrol members. They were a hit and now I have expanded my repertoire to include all of the ten wood badge critters. If you are interested in obtaining a bolo, please contact me at bhthacker@cox.net. I will be adding more photos of the individual bolo ties and new bolo ties as they are created.
